About FloodInsuranceGuide.us
We exist because 96% of US homeowners don't have flood insurance โ and most don't realize their standard policy excludes flood damage entirely. Our goal is to fix the information gap.
Our Mission
Flood damage is the most common natural disaster in the United States. It happens in every state, in every flood zone, and most of it is uninsured because:
- โ Most homeowners assume their standard policy covers flooding (it doesn't)
- โ Many believe federal disaster aid will rebuild their home (it averages $5,000)
- โ Most don't know private flood insurance exists outside the federal NFIP program
- โ Risk Rating 2.0 changed pricing in 2021 and most quotes online are outdated
FloodInsuranceGuide.us provides current, side-by-side comparisons of NFIP and private flood insurance options, with real 2026 prices and clear coverage explanations.
Our Review Methodology
We compare maximum building/contents limits, basement coverage, additional living expenses, and replacement cost vs. actual cash value across NFIP and 8+ private flood insurers.
We test rate quotes across FEMA flood zones (A, AE, V, VE, X) for standardized property profiles in coastal, river, and inland scenarios.
NFIP has a documented 30-day waiting period and slow disaster-driven claims. Private insurers typically offer 14-day waits and faster payouts. We measure historical claim resolution time.
Minimum A- AM Best rating required. NFIP is federally backed. Private insurers must maintain financial strength to be recommended.

FloodInsuranceGuide.us earns a referral fee when you click our links and request a flood insurance quote. This does not change your quote price. We earn similar fees across all insurers we recommend, so our rankings are based on coverage and value โ not which company pays more.
We are not a licensed insurance agent or broker. NFIP policies are sold by participating insurance companies. Private flood insurance is sold by licensed agents. Always verify rates and coverage details directly with the insurer.
